Out and about on the Isle of Skye and beyond….

There are lots of things to see and do near the cottage as the surrounding area has sandy beaches, rugged mountains and forest walks. The sea and rivers teem with fish and deer still roam the glens. You should also make time to see Armadale Castle & Gardens (ancient home of Clan Donald), just along from the Gaelic College, Sabhal Mor Ostaig. Nearby is Armadale Pier where the ferry leaves for Mallaig, on the mainland. It’s a short crossing and most pleasant on a summer day. You should also make the short journey over the hill to Traskavaig and Ord as the scenery is stunning with superb views of the Cuillin Hills. Less than an hour away is Portree, bustling capital town of Skye, and beyond to the northeast is the Quiraing, accessed by the mountain road near Staffin which affords the visitor the most marvellous views of Skye and beyond.

Skye is in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and as such is ideally placed for visiting the Isles of Lewis and Harris, Dunvegan & Eilean Donan Castles and a host of other beautiful locations.

Below L-R, Dunvegan Castle, Carbost Distillery, Isleornsay and Torrin.
